Job Description SummaryDesign mechanisms, structures, and controls for crane products to meet Link-Belt goals of Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.Essential Job FunctionsPrepare and check complex calculations to determine size, strength, or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing productPrepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design policiesCreate layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designsInteract with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specificationsPrepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design PoliciesProduct and revise bills of materials per Link-Belt Design PoliciesCalculate weights and center of gravities for components and assembliesPrepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness including all necessary dimensionsInvestigate and design solutions for “sales special” request as neededInvestigate field service issues and make recommendations for correctionsSupport prototype assembly process as neededSupport manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding, and machining processesResolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblersCoordinate the work of other personnel to complete designsGeneral Qualifications for this role:Four (4) year college degreeBS in an engineering discipline (mechanical or agricultural, preferred) Minimum of one (1) year of proven design or co-op experience
