Overview
As an ER Nurse CHI Saint Joseph Health, you’ll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies.
No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You’re a multitasker who can react quickly as you’ll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you’re providing emergency triage to others. As part of our ER team, you’ll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients by performing IV starts, foley catheter insertions, or aiding providers with chest tube insertions.

More than anything, you should be energetic and motivated to provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity at every step.
Key Responsibilities:
Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge or admit patients.
Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient’s condition as needed.
Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs. Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patient's condition.
Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes, such as patient experience initiatives, mentoring, etc.

Responsibilities
This position is accountable for the daily patient care operations of the assigned department, working under the direction of the Nurse Manager on assigned shifts. Responsible for daily patient care assignments, maintaining clinical standards of care, maintaining labor productivity and supervision of the patient care environment; supporting the care team. Supports the activities of the Nurse Manager. Maintains positive inter- and intra-departmental relationships. Directs patient throughput activities in the assigned unit. Maintains evidence-based nursing practices to achieve desirable patient outcomes in accordance with the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Provides direct supervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units, makes patient care assignments, evaluates assignments, facilitates patient throughout, and directly observes staff performance on assigned shift.
Proactively matches existing resources seeking ways to provide patient care that supports staff and maintains a therapeutic environment.
Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.
Communicates personnel related concerns to Unit Manager.
Uses a logical, systematic approach to problems and problem-solving.
Facilitates Patient Experience best practices on the unit (hourly rounding, etc.)
Maintains Unit Professional standards. Holds staff accountable for behaviors and attitudes.
Maintains confidentiality of information of the department. Assists in audits and data collection as requested.
Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
Performs direct patient care and accepts an assigned group of patients as needed.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree (ADN) in Nursing from an accredited nursing college or program
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license cleared by the Kentucky Board of Nursing or with eNLC multi-state practice privilege
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS ) required to obtain within 90 days post hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
2 years of experience in acute care or in Critical Care nursing
Pay Range
$31.50 - $45.68 /hour
