Job Summary / Purpose
Provides patients with direct nursing care based on nursing observations under the direction and with collaboration of a Registered Nurse, Clinical Managers and the Unit Manager.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Provides families of patients with emotional support, information and guidance in treating the identified patient.
Educates patients and families in areas of health and illness that maintain optimum levels of physical and emotional functioning.
Maintains designated yearly competencies by unit.
Maintains certifications according to specific unit requirements.
Demonstrates a strong belief and behaviors consistent with the Saint Joseph Healthcare Mission and Core Values (Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence).
In a clinical or education setting, may oversee one or more Associates, such as Nurse Assistants, Unit Secretaries, orientees and students.
Daily contact is with co-workers, managers, social services, medical staff, students, clergy, patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and the general public.May have contact with other members of the Health Care Delivery team such as medical representatives, interns, externs, insurance agents, representatives or licensing/regulatory boards and physician offices.
Complies with safety and emergency procedures.
Complies with organizational policies.
Documents activities consistent with organizational guidelines.
Performs critical/frequent procedures or services.
Provides care/services based on identified needs.
Uses required equipment for providing care/services.
Consults with organizational resources.

Qualifications
Required Education for Staff Job Levels:
Graduate of accredited program in practical nursing.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
LPN:KY;
BLS-CPR
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Licensed Practical Nurse competency validated by the Competency Based Orientation (COB) plan.
PREFERRED Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communication adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies.
Pay Range
$23.98 - $34.78 /hour
