Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing general accounting duties, including recording transactions, ensuring accuracy, and providing critical financial insights to support various departments within the company. The Accountant will oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, maintain account reconciliations, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization by providing accurate and timely reports.
Responsibilities
Record and analyze financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Manage and review accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Provide weekly reports on cash balances, cash requirements, deposits, and withdrawals.
Conduct daily reviews of bank account activities and maintain detailed records.
Maintain monthly account reconciliations, primarily using Excel, to ensure all accounts are balanced and discrepancies are addressed.
Submit monthly sales tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.
Analyze and review all financial reports and statements, identifying variances and trends, and providing insights for decision-making.
Research discrepancies in financial reports and assist in the explanation of variances and trends to management.
Prepare and provide accounting reports to support other departments, including manufacturing and sales, ensuring they have the financial information needed to operate effectively.
Oversee and lead the cycle counting process, ensuring inventory records are accurate and up-to-date.
Essential Skills
2+ years of experience in general accounting or a related role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
Advanced Excel skills, including experience with complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
Knowledge of sales tax regulations and experience in submitting sales tax returns.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with various departments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is nice to have, but not a mandatory requirement.
Work Environment
The office is a large open space on the second floor, with currently only 3 people having desks there. The controller brings her cat to work, so candidates must not be allergic to cats. This position is with a family-owned company and has room for growth.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
