Description
Robert Half is seeking a meticulous and motivated Cash Application Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely application of incoming payments to customer accounts, reconciling discrepancies, and supporting the overall accounts receivable process. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately apply customer payments (checks, ACH/wire transfers, credit cards) to appropriate accounts in the system on a daily basis.
Reconcile cash receipts and resolve payment discrepancies, working closely with internal teams and customers.
Research unresolved payments or deductions and collaborate with the Collections team to resolve account discrepancies.
Maintain and update payment records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards.
Assist in month-end close activities related to cash application and accounts receivable.
Generate and review reports to identify errors or missing payments and take corrective actions.
Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of customer accounts and billing practices.
Support audit processes by providing required documentation for cash application transactions.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
1-3 years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or related roles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working in ERP/accounting systems like SAP, Oracle, or similar software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
Familiarity with GAAP or general accounting principles is a plus.
