Job Summary
The Medical Assistant III - Certified will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to the Baptist Health Louisville hospital outpatient department diagnostic testing and to Baptist Health Medical Group providers within the department.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job by listing the major components for this position (i.e., key responsibilities and essential duties).
- Assist RN(s) and Nuclear Medicine Tech(s) with prep of diagnostic testing patients
- Aide with monitoring and support of patients
- Perform venipuncture
- Perform point of care PT/INR testing
- Assists Cardiology provider with all tasks associated with patient care as requested, within scope of practice and certification. Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Ability to perform EKG.
- Apply external cardiac monitors.
- Aide with oversight of implanted cardiac devices (such as ICD, pacemaker, loop recorder, CardioMems, etc)
- Aide with check-in and registration as needed
- Support scheduling of new patient and follow-up visits, diagnostic testing, procedures, referrals, etc, as needed.
- Diagnostic testing, procedure and referral pre-certification.
- Interacts with patients, patient family and caregivers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ensures seemless interaction during the patient visit.
- Collaborates effectively with co-workers, other departments and others to ensure patient care needs are met.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required
Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or AAMP. Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current licensure without restrictions. BLS required within 90 days of hire.
