Summary Objective
The Director is responsible for leading and managing the Office of Violence Prevention in Louisville, Kentucky. The Director will manage over 50 staff, comprised of employees, contractors, and grant-funded positions. This Office has direct-service functions and also manages millions of dollars in violence prevention contracts with community organizations. The primary functions of the Office are running Pivot to Peace, Louisville’s community violence intervention program; conducting youth outreach; providing resources to those who have been exposed to the trauma of gun violence; convening an ecosystem of approximately 300 community organizations to encourage connectedness and assist with capacity-building; and, more broadly, making meaningful change in the neighborhoods that need it most.
We need someone who is passionate about public service, who can build relationships and trust among many different stakeholders, who can develop a strategic vision, who can agenda-set, prioritize, and execute plans, and who has excellent leadership skills. The Director needs to be out in our community, developing personal and institutional relationships with community members and community organizations, as well as building bridges with other government partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
Directs programs, projects, and activities to achieve short- and long-range goals and objectives of the strategic plan.
Prepares annual budget for the department.
Maintains and ensures an administrative and operational awareness of all external contracted services.
Determines departmental policies and planning long term programs.
Compiles reports and statistics and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
Prepares memoranda and non-routine correspondence.
Plans, guides and directs the research, analysis and preparation of specialized or technical reports in assigned areas of responsibility.
Conveys assignments to various organizational units.
Responds to complaints and inquiries from the public and resolves problems and concerns.
Represents the department to the public.
Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline.
• Eight (8) years of criminal justice, social work, public health, juvenile justice, community outreach, services, engagement, development, community violence intervention or prevention, or other directly related experience of which two must have been in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. of which two (2) must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacityEquivalency: An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
