We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to perform field installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of plant controls, burner controls, silo load out controls, AC tank farm control and monitoring systems, and asphalt plant control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical control systems and be able to work independently while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
Install plant controls, burner controls, silo load out controls, and AC tank farm control and monitoring systems.
Troubleshoot and calibrate plant controls, dryer burners, and hot oil heater burners.
Use electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams to replace old controllers with new ones.
Download PLC code into systems and ensure proper interfacing of process control devices.
Check and resolve issues with sensors, circuits, and electrical control panel components.
Calibrate 200 MM BTU burner controls for asphalt plants.
Provide customer support during field installations and repairs.
Maintain workload according to the promoted schedule.
Manage onsite installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks.
Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
Produce timely and detailed service reports.
Document processes, including timesheets.
Follow all company and customer field procedures and protocols.
Cooperate with labor crew and office personnel, sharing information across the organization.
Understand customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
Build positive relationships with customers.
Train customers on the use and preventative maintenance of new equipment.
Work with other onsite contractors and be familiar with asphalt plant equipment.
Essential Skills
Proven field experience.
Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service electrical controls.
Familiarity with standard hand and electrical tools.
Experience commissioning equipment in the field and working with 480v electrical systems.
Experience installing, troubleshooting, and programming PLC controls, machine controls, and process control devices (sensors and instrumentation).
Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical circuits.
Ability to read ladder logic and control schematics.
Ability to layout benchmarks and points of reference.
Proficiency in reading electrical CAD drawings.
Ability to use voltmeter and amp meter.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with VFD (Variable Frequency Drives).
Ability to work with motor control systems.
Strong customer interfacing skills.
Ability to train customers on new equipment and preventative maintenance.
Work Environment
This role involves 80% travel, with travel hours paid at straight time and a $45 per diem on travel days. Work will primarily be outdoors, requiring the ability to travel within the US and abroad. The position demands flexibility in shifts and the ability to adapt to changing work schedules, including shift work and on-call status. Typical onsite workdays are 10-12 hours long, with potential for longer hours. Employees will receive straight time pay for travel.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $34.00/hr.
