Laboratory Technician- Full Time, Second Shift
Status: Full Time
Shift: Second
Job Summary:
Performs waived and moderate high complexity testing according to CLIA '88 guidelines; interpretsand reports results for established tests and examinations in at least one of the following fields withinthe clinical laboratory: Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Microbiology. Performs
quality control, quality assurance and maintenance. Works independently but under the supervision ofthe department coordinator or a certified technologist/technician. Duties may also include clerical tasksand related laboratory services.
Requirements:
Associates degree in a laboratoryscience or medical laboratorytechnology from an accreditedinstitution, or at least 60 semester hours, orequivalent, from an accreditedinstitution that, at a minimum,includes:
Either 24 semester hoursof medical laboratorytechnology courses OR 24 semester hours ofscience courses thatinclude:
* 6 hours each ofchemistry andbiology
* 12 hours ofchemistry, biologyor medicallaboratorytechnology in anycombination
* Completion of an approved oraccredited clinical laboratorytraining program
OR
* 3 months of documentedlaboratory training in eachspecialty in which the individualperforms high complexity testing.
