Description

Position Summary:

The Occupational Medicine Physician plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to employees, with a focus on injury prevention, work-related illness treatment, regulatory compliance, and health promotion. This role supports clinic operations, employer partnerships, and employee health and wellness. The Occupational Medicine Physician shall provide comprehensive occupational health services to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers workforce.

Core Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat work-related injuries and illnesses.

• Determine fitness for duty and work restrictions.

• Develop return-to-work plans and monitor recovery progress.

• Conduct per-employment physicals, exams for Load Handling Equipment Operators, Coast Guard exams, DOT exams, fit-for-duty evaluations, return to duty examinations, separation examinations, and periodic health surveillance (e.g., audiograms, pulmonary function tests, respirator clearance, etc).

• Online Respirator Medical Evaluations

• Review and interpret lab results, imaging, and diagnostic tests.

• Identify workplace health risks and provide counseling on prevention.

• Manage workers’ compensation cases and maintain thorough documentation.

• Collaborate with clinic staff, employers, case managers, and safety teams to ensure care is aligned with employer requirements and regulatory guidelines.

• Ensure compliance with USACE, OSHA, ADA, HIPAA and other regulatory standards.

• Participate in health education and wellness training.

• Offer guidance on ergonomics, workplace hazards, and injury prevention strategies.

• Work closely with USACE leadership, Medical Director, HR, Safety, and other departments.

• Attend internal and external client meetings and safety and health committee meetings when needed.

• Communicate effectively with employees, employers, and external providers.

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.

• Contribute to clinic metrics, quality initiatives and compliance reports.

• Monitor due and overdue exams to help maintain compliance with USACE requirements.

• Participate in mock drills, codes, and quality assurance reviews.

• Participate in drills, standing order reviews, AED oversight, hearing conservation oversight, and training activities.

• Work with the clinical management team in the development or revision of clinical protocols, procedures, and templates.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Doctorate of Medicine (MD) or Doctorate of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited college

• 3 yrs+ Occupational Medicine experience

• Department of Transportation (DOT) certification

• Active, unrestricted license to practice as a MD/DO in the state where services are being provided.

• Board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) preferred

• Must be credentialed and remain in good standings.
